Review: The Deadly Sister by Eliot Schrefer

Reviewer: E                         July 2015

The Deadly Sister was an intriguing murder mystery.

The book is about two sisters, good-girl Abby always covering for troublemaker Maya’s mistakes. When Maya is accused of murder, Abby is not sure she can cover for her this time. The plot of a murder whodunit was a little overdone, but it had a unique twist that was engrossing to read.

The characters were slightly one dimensional and didn’t act their age. However, their strong bonds and internal conflicts were very well crafted.

Was the writing  too simple for my taste at times? Yes. Was it still an engaging thriller? You bet. And that ending plot twist came out of nowhere- and I totally loved it!

Riveting and dark, The Deadly Sister is a good read recommended for fans of thriller and mystery. Four out of five stars.
