Review: The Martian by Andy Weir

Reviewer: E                      August 2015

The Martian was pretty good, with some things I didn’t like.

It’s about astronaut Mark Watney, left alone on Mars after his team takes off. He learns how to survive on the red planet until a rescue team can come for him. The plot was predictable, but a twist on classic survival stories.

The writing was good, entertaining enough, a little juvenile. *shrug* Mr. Weir certainly did his homework, this book is very scientifically educating. It got a little tedious after pages of the same thing.

The characters were good enough. They all had sort of one trait defining them, which wasn’t great. I didn’t specifically identify with Mark.

Sorry for the crappiness and overall suckiness of this review. It was rushed- could you tell? 😉

I would recommend The Martian to any science fiction and space fans. 4/5 stars. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
